Beige Children from a Dusty Flesh Planet
This is a nascent space where I will collect research and share thoughts about the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the fields of art and design as we build a new research initiative at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. This initiative is co-directed by me as Director of Living Labs and Dr. Ron Burnett as Director of the Centre for Transdisciplinary Studies.
Reflecting on how art and design are being affected by Generative AI helps us to understand the potential impact of these technologies on creative practice and to consider the social, political and economic implications of these tools. As Generative AI continues to advance, it has the potential to fundamentally change the way artists and designers create and exist in the world. As practitioners and stakeholders in these fields we need to actively consider the potential consequences of these changes and to think critically about the challenges and opportunities that they present, particularly through the lens of the art school. Here are two stakeholders who may be affected.
